Airvolution is a creative agency, creating detailed airbrushed artworks on almost any surface, focusing on body art for events, trade shows and activation’s.
Based in Pretoria, we provide creative solutions to clients all over South Africa as well as to a few select international clients, creating meaningful artworks that grab attention.
We have worked on major projects for concerts including Nelson Mandela’s 46664, Robbie Williams, MTV-Base, Miss World, airbrushed and graffiti murals, body painting for events, exhibitions and fine art canvases.
Our artists are leaders in Trompe L’oeil, faux finishes and realistic artworks.
The owner of Airvolution Studios – Charl Bubb has been airbrushing for over 19 yrs and has extensive experience as an airbrush body painter. He has been featured in magazines, newspapers and websites and his portfolio speaks for itself. He is the only body painter in South Africa that is registered with The World Body-Paint Association.
As body-painting took off in South Africa we decided to launch a separate website dedicated entirely to body-painting – www.bodypaint.co.za

More About Us:
An atomizer using compressed air to spray a liquid, such as paint, on a surface.
The airbrush is a small, highly precise spray gun for applying paint onto paper or other surfaces to create smooth blending effects of two or more colors in a seamless way. Airbrushed images have a floating quality, with softly defined edges between colors, and between foreground and background colors. A well skilled airbrush artist can produce paintings of photographic realism or can simulate almost any painting medium. Painting at this skill level involves supplementary tools, such as masks and friskets, and very careful planning.
A very large image, such as a painting or enlarged photograph, applied directly to a wall or ceiling.
01. Of, relating to, or resembling a wall.
02. Painted on or applied to a wall.
A mural is a painting on a wall, ceiling, or other large permanent surface. Murals date to prehistoric times. Of the many techniques, the most well known is probably “fresco”.
01. A style of painting that gives an illusion of photographic reality.
02. A painting or effect created in this style.
Trompe-l’oeil (French for “trick the eye” from tromper – to deceive and l’oeil – the eye); is an art technique involving extremely realistic imagery in order to create the optical illusion that the depicted objects really exist.
Body painting, or sometimes body-painting, is a form of body art.
Unlike tattoo and other forms of body art, body painting is temporary, painted onto the human skin, and lasts for only several hours, or at most (in the case of Mehndi or “henna tattoo”) a couple of weeks. We do not paint using Henna but rather use temporary tattoo ink as it sits on top of the skin and doesn’t react with the skin.
Body painting that is limited to the face is known as face painting.
Body painting is also referred to as (a form of) temporary tattoo; large scale or full-body painting is more commonly referred to as body painting, while smaller or more detailed work is generally referred to as temporary tattoos.
